Each small bowl is approximately 2.5" tall and 4.5" across at top. They are very firmly made and demonstrate exceptional craftsmanship. No two are exactly alike. These wonderful small bowls having many uses for storing small treasures, display and serving. The baskets are made out of the multicolored, coated wires that run within telephone cable. As technology moves toward fiber optics, cable wire is recycled or produced for craft use. One technique that has now developed is the soft wire method which requires weaving of the colored wire as they would in making traditional palm or grass baskets. These baskets are woven creating beautiful colorful, stylish shapes using different weaves and changes in weave direction to create patterns of spirals, reverse swirls and dots. Worldesigns is helping co-ops of South African telephone wire weavers to become financially independent.
